EPIC is the foremost industry association that promotes the sustainable development of organisations working in the field of photonics in Europe.

Martin Roth was invited to give a keynote speech on April 19, 2018, at the annual general meeting of EPIC at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Berlin, celebrating the 15 anniversary of the organization. With a presentation entitled "Imagination – Invention – Innovation: the case of astrophotonics for technology transfer“ the participants were taken through a slide show from impressive photographs of stars, nebulae, and galaxies, to the application of photonics for astrophysical instrumentation.

We are currently looking for a team leader in the field of Astrophotonics. The post is a high visibility research commitment with opportunities for teaching, at a salary level equivalent to a Junior Professor position (according to the german academic system). The application deadline is May 18, 2018.

Further details regarding the positions and the application procedure can be found here.

New job offer as scientist @ innoFSPEC

As part of a new research project, we are currently looking for a scientist. The successful candidate will join the research group “Innovative Fiber-Optical Sensing” as soon as possible. This is a temporary position up to 31.10.2020. The position aims at the expansion of our competence in the field of the analytical and numerical description of light transport in strongly scattering and weakly absorbing materials like polymer dispersions or emulsions.

Further details regarding the positions and the application procedure can be found here.

Professor Karthaus

We invite you to join the next innoFSPEC seminar: Our guest Professor Olaf Karthaus (Chitose Institute of Science and Technology, Chitose, Japan) will give a talk about “Can we biomimic the textures of flower petals and pollen particles?”. For more information regarding Professor Karthaus' background please visit the Chitose Institute's website.

Location: University of Potsdam, Golm, House 25, Room B 0.01
